In 1998, in order to participate in the FIA Group GT3 category, Porsche built a racing car based on the original 996.1 and named it the 911 GT3. At that time, Porsche thought that since it was going to participate in the competition, it would be better to turn the racing car into a production car, so it directly used this group alias as its own model code.
This 911 GT3 model without rear seats, no speakers, sunroof and air conditioning has attracted the attention of the majority of fans as soon as it was released. After all, at the time, there seemed to be no other option than the 911 GT3 to buy a road-legal production car.
From 1999, when Porsche began producing the first-generation 911 GT3 models, as of 2013, only about 14,000 GT3 models were produced. It's the performance and scarcity that have led to the price of this model being very stable, with used 911 GT3 models even costing more than new cars.
